How to play

Tatamibari — 畳ばり — is a Japanese tiling puzzle about cutting a floor into mats.

  1. Divide the whole grid into rectangles. Every cell belongs to exactly one of them.
  2. Every rectangle holds exactly one symbol, and every symbol ends up in exactly one rectangle.
  3. The symbol says the shape. A plus means a square, equal in width and height. A vertical bar means taller than wide. A horizontal bar means wider than tall.
  4. Four rectangles may never meet at a single point, the way four tatami mats are never laid corner to corner.

Tap a cell to hand it to a rectangle. Tap again to pass it to the next one that could reach it, and again to let it go. Hold and drag to sweep a whole run into the same rectangle.
